Server issues 25-26 April - UPDATED

26 April 2015

You may have noticed yesterday that some of our SSL websites were slow or in accessible during a two-hour period.

This was due to some suspicious requests coming from (or via) India that led to a kind of 'digital paper jam' on the web server which had to be cleared manually.

Today we saw a similar flood of requests, but thanks to some new monitoring scripts we were able to keep the disruption down to just a few minutes, and we now have a better idea of what we're dealing with.

We constantly see attacks on all our servers, but it's very unusual for one to actually impact performance.

Please be assured that we're doing everything we can to minimise and mitigate this issue.

Update: No issues to report in the last 48 hours. The problem was related to session and database connections remaining open while files were downloaded.
