Google Mobile algorithm change
26 March 2015
Google have announced that starting April 21 their mobile search results will promote websites that are mobile friendly over those that are less well configured for mobile devices.
This will only affect people using Google search on their tablet or mobile phone to find your website.
If you're not sure how mobile friendly your website is, Google has provided a Mobile-Friendly Test when you can enter any URL to receive a short report and advice on how to proceed.
You can also scan your entire website using Webmaster Tools.
If your website fails the Mobile-Friendly Test then after April 21 you may see a reduction in search traffic from Google.

Summary
In Google search results when using a desktop computer there will be no impact whatsoever.
In Google Mobile search results when using a phone or tablet:
- if your website is 'mobile friendly' you have a chance to move up in the rankings, assuming there are sites above you that are not as mobile friendly; and
- If your website is not mobile friendly, there is a chance that you move down in the rankings, assuming there are sites below you that are more mobile friendly.
