Linode connectivity issues

21 March 2023

Today some websites were experiencing errors connecting to third party applications for online payments and other services. This seems to have been caused by a name server connectivity issue at Linode.

We have adjusted our web server network settings as a temporary work-around and are waiting on an official response from Linode.

The problems were restricted to the Fremont data centre and other locations were not affected.

Our apologies for any inconvenience this may have caused.

Linode have informed us that the problem was caused by our servers "being recently migrated to a host on our updated networking infrastructure" on a different subnet to the DNS resolvers. But they failed to give warning that our SLAAC configuration would need updating. All working now.
