HTTP/2 support for SSL websites

31 October 2015

This month KeyCDN has rolled out HTTP/2 support for all HTTPS traffic through their servers. As most of our SSL websites also use KeyCDN for serving images and other content, visitors with compatible browsers are already enjoying faster load times.

HTTP/2 is a brand new protocol based on the earlier SPDY protocol developed internally at Google. It is the first update to the HTTP protocol since HTTP/1.1 in 1997 and aims to reduce page load times for secure (SSL) content.

In practice, it improves page load times by 10-20% over standard HTTP without requiring any changes to how you connect. All you need is a compatible web browser.
