Downtime 6 March

6 March 2012

You may have noticed that some websites were offline for a few hours today. We're still getting to the bottom of it, but as this time it appears to be a (human) fault at the hosting centre. When we have more details I will post an update here.

Update: we can confirm that the server was offline between 14:50 and 18:50 AEDT.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused to our clients. Again, this appears to be the fault of a technician at the hosting centre, but we will update here as we know more.

The Bright Side

  • our firewall was able to repel, for at least a couple of hours, even the local technicians from gaining access;
  • the server restarted with all systems intact, including the firewall; and
  • no DNS or MX (mail) services were affected as they are on a completely separate system at another location.
