NetSpeed email issues

10 February 2016

It's come to our attentional that some emails sent to some of our clients email addresses are being blocked by NetSpeed. Relaying of emails is a normal, acceptable behaviour and this appears to be a recent action taken by NetSpeed.

The issue arises when a NetSpeed account holder sends an email to a website address which then relays back to NetSpeed, with the following error appearing:

----- The following addresses had permanent fatal errors -----
<email(at)example.net.au>
(reason: 554 Failure From=To From netspeed.com.au is local but user not authenticated or from g_relay_allow_ip (106.187.41.36) see G_FROM_NOFORGE*)

There is nothing we can do at our end, only ask that affected clients request from NetSpeed that they add our server address (106.187.41.36) to their list of accepted relays.

If you are affected and want to explore other solutions we recommend hosting a mailbox, or a mail server for your domain, with Google or a similar provider.

See our FAQ for options.
